Immunizations

Immunizations are essential for protecting animals from serious diseases. Vaccines help strengthen the immune system by preparing the body to fight infections before they occur. Core vaccines, which are recommended for all pets, include rabies, distemper, and parvovirus for dogs, and rabies, feline herpesvirus, and feline calicivirus for cats. Non-core vaccines, such as those for Bordetella or Lyme disease, may be given based on an animal’s lifestyle and risk factors.
Young animals, like puppies and kittens, receive a series of vaccinations early in life, followed by booster shots at regular intervals. Adult pets typically require annual or triennial vaccinations, depending on the disease and the vaccine type. Staying up to date on immunizations helps prevent the spread of contagious illnesses and ensures the long-term well-being of pets.
